My Road to the Cork City Marathon by Andy Goulding

So I’ve decided to write a blog on my journey to Cork City Marathon 2024.

My name is Andy Goulding, for those of you who don’t know me, I run with Leevale AC and would class myself as a marathon runner, I also help out with the podcast from time to time and have been told by thousands that I am the second best presenter after Brian of course.

I didn’t plan on even running Cork city marathon this year. All my training went in to Seville marathon which was on last week. Unfortunately that didn’t go to plan and I had to pull out with injury after 8 miles.

The trip in the ambulance wasn’t the way Andy wanted to see the sights of Seville

I thought it would be good for people to hear about the less glamourous side of long distance running, so I will will talk about my road to recovery and hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be back running so I’ll be able to give e a little insight in to my training and how I balance life and running in general.

I must say also, I am not a running coach, nor do I claim to know everything about running but I do know what works for me. I have ran 11 marathons to date so I have picked up a few things along the way. What works for me may not necessarily work for you but if I can even help motivate people a little then this blog will be worth while.

I think this blog will help me stay connected to the running community while I’m injured and also keep me accountable which is very important in a big block of training.

I don’t take myself too seriously so this is just a bit of fun and I hope people enjoy reading it and learning a little bit more about me along the way.
